A UK satellite provider has moved to new headquarters in Cornwall.

Avanti Communications has taken space at Spaceport Cornwall’s Space Systems Operations Facility in Newquay.

The company, which has offices across Europe, Africa and the US, operates a fleet of four satellites from its technology hub in Cornwall and also has a secondary site at Goonhilly Earth Station.

Avanti delivers connectivity and communications across the globe for the government, military, enterprise, telecoms and carrier markets.

Kyle Whitehill, chief executive of Avanti, said: “Our move to Spaceport Cornwall’s Space Systems Operations Facility reinforces our commitment to Cornwall's growing space sector.

"This move enables us to collaborate more closely with the pioneering space and technology companies in SSOF and collectively contribute to the region’s growing reputation as a world-class space cluster.”

Avanti said the move to the new site would "strengthen" Cornwall’s space and tech ecosystem and place the company at the heart of the county’s growing space cluster, alongside businesses such as Blue Abyss, Slingshot Aerospace, Intelligent AI, Kispe, Space Engine Systems and Drone Prep.

Ross Hulbert, head of engagement at Spaceport Cornwall, added: “We are delighted to welcome Avanti to site. Alongside launch operations, Spaceport Cornwall’s mission is to provide a world class environment for space businesses to locate and thrive.

"It’s a sign of the ambition of the cluster that a company the size and calibre of Avanti has chosen Newquay as its base, and we look forward to working alongside them for many years to come.”
